Spyzooka Review – Honest Opinion!

User Interface

The Spyzooka interface looks a bit different from other standard spyware scanners and tries to win in style. It isn’t the most stunning program out there, but the simple options that are found on the left side make it pretty easy to get any operations done or set any options that are needed. It does look incomplete and rushed though and could use a few improvements such as bringing the “Update” and “Help” buttons to the left side. The “Scan” button appears in text only and can be difficult to find.

Flexibility

Spyzooka comes with an interesting SpyGuard that helps thwart spyware in its tracks before reaching the computer along with a couple of other tools, but ultimately fails to provide any other useful functions. Even the scheduler function is missing from Spyzooka. For a commercial anti-spyware program, this is a disappointment in terms of flexibility.

Detection

Detection is pretty fast and has a fair amount of signatures that can detect many of the common malwares out there that freeware alternatives and other virus scanners cannot detect. A “Full Scan” can take around 2 minutes to finish which is considerably faster than the quick scans of other anti-spyware software.

Accuracy

The problem of these super fast scans is that files are often skipped or just not scanned fully enough to detect any presence and this is what Spyzooka suffers from. It even detects a few false positives as well, but not as much as the stricter programs out there, but that’s because the detection rate is average to begin with. Not the most accurate program out there, but doesn’t fall too short either.

Reliability

This is where Spyzooka really fails because no matter how many spyware gets detected; none of the bad entries can be removed thus defeating the entire purpose of a spyware scanner. Even the simple adware toolbars on Internet Explorer were detected, but failed to kill the spyware after the full scan.

Stability

There aren’t many stability and speed issues coming out of Spyzooka since the program doesn’t do very much so even the decent stability of Spyzooka won’t save it from the other major problems that the program suffers from. Spyzooka needs some serious improvements while keeping the stability constant to make this a crucial factor.

Support

The website features a FAQ page where majority of the questions can be answered, but they are too generic and although e-mail support is freely available, no “Live Chat” option is available adding more insult to injury to this program. The best thing to do is to give lots of user feedback and convince the developers to improve their software.

Overall

Spyzooka is a fast scanner that can detect an average amount of spyware, but it fails badly in fixing the problems it detects. There are also no updates to the latest threats as well making this a truly failed attempt in making a difference in the anti-spyware market. This software isn’t worth the purchase and would have done better as freeware. Invest in better spyware solutions like No Adware, which is also a fast solution, but excels in every other aspect that Spyzooka fails in.
