Error Doctor Review – Honest Opinion!
Error Doctor may not have the word “registry” in its title, but it is purely a registry cleaner that can take care of errors by fixing the registry problems associated with them. Below is an in-depth look on how well Error Doctor performs.
Installation
Error Doctor can be easily downloaded from their homepage at errordoctor.com, which should take no time at all. The setup program is a bit bigger than other programs, but still small anyway at around 3 MB. It isn’t indicated what operating systems Error Doctor is compatible with leaving it a bit risky for users that are running the old OS’s. But the recent 2009 version should be safe to install on Windows Vista systems.
First Impressions
The user interface of the latest version of Error Doctor is a bit overwhelming with graphics and non-traditional window design. This may or may not be embraced by users, but it is a bit intuitive once you get used to the big buttons. The “Scan” and “Remove” buttons are impossible to miss. However, the extra graphics used in Error Doctor can hog more resources than lighter registry cleaners.
Scanning Performance
Performance wise, Error Doctor does an exceptional job in taking registry errors head on without tackling the critical entries. It covers the majority of different categories that registry problems come in and different categories can be treated acmost cording to the user’s needs. It fails in detecting the most errors falling short in terms of performance when being compared to a popular program like RegCure.
For completely new users and non-technical users, Error Doctor is a good choice with its “Auto-scan” feature, which does a full registry scan for all categories and takes the best action against the problems it detects. This can result in greater performance overall and faster startup times. Changes can also be undone by restoring backups making this a safe program for trying out.
Extra Features
Error Doctor has a nice backup and restore utility that works a bit like system restore were backup points are made after each scan for future restore purposes. Registry cleaning operations can also be performed at regular intervals or after each startup using the scheduling feature it comes with. Other than that, Error Doctor fails to offer anything else and strictly focuses on registry cleaning which may disappoint some users that are looking for a solid diagnostic package. There are other registry cleaners out there that include startup managers and other key functions.
Bottom Line
Error Doctor stays focused in its registry error detection capabilities and handles it pretty well in an acceptable interface. It doesn’t completely heal systems, but any new users demanding a boost in performance and stability will surely get some results from Error Doctor using the useful “Auto-scan” feature. Technical users don’t get behind either with the optional “Manual Scanning” that allows category selection. Error Doctor is offered at a cheaper price but is strangely subscription based, and for this reason I don’t recommend Error Doctor. I recommend you download the FREE copy of Regcure. – our top performing registry cleaner.
